Ranil breaks Chandrika’s record Featured

UNP’s Ranil Wickremesinghe has broken the record for the highest ever preferential votes recorded at a parliamentary election.

With 500,566 votes, he surpassed the 464,588 votes obtained by Chandrika Kumaratunga at the 1994 election.

Mahinda Rajapaksa obtained 423,529 votes from Kurunegala district.
