As the UNP polled 79,968 votes (84.64 per cent), the UPFA managed only 11,489 votes.
Meanwhile, the UPFA won Kurunegala district, for which it had fielded ex-president Mahinda Rajapaksa as the group leader.
It collected eight seats, down from 10 seats at the 2010 election, while the UNP gained seven seats, up from five seats previously.
