Help maintain peace, celebrate victory calmly - PM

Help maintain peace, celebrate victory calmly - PM Featured

Prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe kindly requests UNP members and the Sri Lankan people to continue to extend their cooperation to the officers and maintain peace on election day, and the days following and celebrate the victory in a calm manner.
In a statement, he says,

The people of our country made a strong decision on the 8th of January to change the uncivilised family rule and build a righteous society. This election clearly demonstrates the fact that the change which the people expected has already been set in motion. Our government has created the required background for the Commissioner of Elections and all other officers to conduct a free and fair election devoid of political interference. This election will be recorded in the annals of recent history as the most civilised, lawful, free and fair peaceful election.

I kindly request the members of the United National Party and the people of Sri Lanka to continue to extend their cooperation to the officers and maintain this peace on 17th of August, day of the election and the days following and celebrate the victory in a calm manner.
