Police complaint filed against astrologer Manjula Peiris Featured

A complaint has been lodged with the Mirihana Police against the astrologer Manjula Peiris citing that the latter has made statements which disrupt public peace and unity.

The complaint states that he had made the particular statements in support of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, during a TV programme telecast under the guise of an Astrology programme.

At the programme, Mr. Peiris has claimed that if Mahinda Rajapaksa does not come into power in the forthcoming election, the LTTE will raise its head again in Sri Lanka.

Noting that the international community maintains an antagonistic attitude towards Sri Lanka as Mahinda Rajapaksa ended the war, Mr. Peiris has said that if a leader who can fight against them is not elected, it won't be possible to safeguard the country from the impending danger.

Speaking to 'Sri Lanka Mirror' - Attorney-at-law Yasas de Silva, who lodged the complaint, stated that the Election Commissioner has been informed of the particular incident and he has ordered to prevent the programme from being re-telecast.
