Sarath Fonseka was the last political prisoner in the country, he has told BBC Sandeshaya.
Commenting on claims by Tamil parties that a large number of political prisoners remain behind bars, he said there were none in the government custody.
None of those arrested during the war are political prisoners, he stressed, noting that all of them had either killed or maimed people, caught with explosives, or committed some other act deemed a crime under the country’s laws.
