Kumarapperuma is responding to an allegation by Frontline Socialist Party propaganda secretary Pubudu Jayagoda at a media briefing yesterday (06) that JVP national list nominees are supporting the UNP.
He told Sri Lanka Mirror that party differences are not barriers to maintain relationships with fellow human beings, adding that he is not a permanent member of a political party.
Also, at the time his name was mentioned in the lawyers’ meeting invitation, Kumarapperuma said he was not considered to be included in the JVP national list.
During the previous regime, he said, he appeared for victims of repression and violations of the law without considering their party affiliations.
Also, he appeared for Sri Lanka Mirror, Ravaya, Lanka and Lankadeepa as well as journalists Mandana Ismail and Prageeth Ekneligoda in order to promote media freedom, said the lawyer.
Furthermore, social activists such as Sanjeewa Bandara, Nuwan Bopage and Udul Premaratne were represented against the the government, as they are fighters for a common cause, he added.
