UPFA will win 117 seats – Mahinda Featured

The UPFA is certain to win the forthcoming parliamentary election by securing 117 seats, says former president Mahinda Rajapaksa.

He is giving an interview to BBC Sandeshaya.

It could be seen then as to whether he would be appointed the prime minister, he said.

Rajapaksa said he took a wrong decision when he called the presidential polls on January 08, with two years of his tenure remaining.

He said he took the decision on the advice of his MPs and ministers, not of astrologers.

Didn’t give money to LTTE

The ex-president rubbished the allegation by prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe that his administration had given money to the LTTE, until it targeted Gotabhaya Rajapaksa in a bomb attack.

It is a falsehood targeted at belittling the victory gained, he said.

It was Wickremesinghe who had given money, weapons, a radio and even the country was to be divided and given to the LTTE, he charged.
