700 LTTE vehicles being used by Sri Lanka Army! Featured

The Sri Lanka Army is using over 700 vehicles that had earlier belonged to the LTTE, reports say.

Following the military operation in the North, all LTTE vehicles which were collected and taken to Kilinochchi, were taken into the Army under the orders of the then Defence Secretary - Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.

These details were revealed during investigations done on court orders with regard to the 'white van' which was seized by the Mirihana police recently while being used by Major Gen. Prasanna Silva for official purposes.

During official duties, the vehicles are driven with number plates bearing the Sinhala initials 'යුහ' which signifies vehicles of the Sri Lanka Army. On other occasions, the vehicles' original number plates were used.

According to investigations, it is revealed that the LTTE has used fake number plates and that none of these vehicles are actually registered with the Department of Motor Traffic. However, it is reported that the SLA has not looked into this properly as well.
