Mahinda-Dayasiri in tight tussle for votes! Featured

A tight tussle is on in Kurunegala between former president Mahinda Rajapaksa and north western province chief minister Dayasiri Jayasekara for preferential votes at the forthcoming general election.

Jayasekara is successfully carrying on with his campaign, after polling record preferential votes at the last NWP polls amidst disruptions by the Rajapaksas.

According to reports reaching Sri Lanka Mirror, Jayasekara and SLFP general secretary Anura Priyadarshana Yapa are both being generously backed by president Maithripala Sirisena.

The president has agreed to give them two powerful ministries in the national government to be formed after the election.

However, most UPFA candidates in Kurunegala, led by Johnston Fernando, are supporting Rajapaksa.
