The use of mobile phones will be restricted within the Yala national park to prevent inconvenience to the animals, said the Wildlife Conservation Department.

Mobile services will be curtailed from 6.00 am to 9.00 am and from 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm, during which most animals sightings are made.

On a request by the department, the TRC has instructed Dialog, Mobitel, Hutch and Etisalat to curtail the services from 20 to 26 of July, 03 to 09 of August, 17 to 23 of August and 31 August to 06 September.

These service providers have agreed to the request.

Any views and suggestions in this regard can be intimated to the director general, Wildlife Conservation Department, 811/A, Bodhiraja Mawatha, Jayanthipura, Battaramulla.
