No nominations for Karuna Amman

No nominations for Karuna Amman Featured

Vinayagamurthi Muralitharan alias Karuna Amman, former deputy minister and deputy secretary of the SLFP, has not received nominations from the UPFA to contest the general election.
He has not been named to the national list either.
 
According to reports reaching Sri Lanka Mirror, the nomination board has left him out in consideration of the likelihood that the UNP would use his past conduct as the LTTE leader for east to its advantage during electioneering.
 
The the Presidential commission inquiring into abductions in the northern and eastern provinces by armed groups is to summon Karuna, who faces charges of murdering 600 policemen in 1990.
 
When contacted, former minister Basil Rajapaksa told SLM that Karuna Amman was not given nominations although he sought nominations from Kalutara district.
