The Ape Jathika Peramuna has filed an objection citing that the UPFA group leader - Dulles Alahapperuma has dual citizenship.

Meanwhile, Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna Matara District Group leader - Sunil Handunneththi has filed an objection citing that Manoj Sirisena holds Australian citizenship.

According to the recently passed 19th Amendment, those who are holding dual citizenship lose the right to vote as well as to be a parliamentarian.

The returning officer is to state his decision on the above after the time period for filing objections (Noon - 1.00pm) ends.
