The President had noted this while meeting with several civil representatives last Wednesday (July 08).

The meeting held at the Presidential secretariat was attended by Ven. Dambara Amila Thera, Gamini Viyangoda, Prof. Sarath Wijesuriya, Dr. Nirmal Ranjith Dewasiri, Saman Rathnapriya, Joseph Stalin, Dharmasiri Bandaranayake and Ravi Jayawardena.

Noting that he was not involved in the UPFA nominations process, the President has said that the task was completely handled by the UPFA Gen. Secretary - Susil Premajayantha.

Meanwhile, speaking at a public meeting in Kurunegala, Education minister - Akila Viraj Kariyawasam had stated that President Maithripala Sirisena is to resign from his post as SLFP leader and has decided to remain impartial and independent during the upcoming General election.
