A group including several ministers who had contributed towards the January 08 victory of Maithripala Sirisena, had established the 'United National Front' for Good Governance and an official statement on this regard will be issued over the weekend once the United National Party (UNP) obtains Working Committee approval, minister Arjuna Ranatunga says.
Speaking thus to 'BBC Sandeshaya', he said that a host of figures including Rajitha Senaratne and Champika Ranawaka, who had backed the common opposition candidate at the last Presidential election, are to join the front.
He added that discussions held with the UNP on securing nominations for this group, too were successful.
With these new turn of events, the UNP had postponed the handing over of nominations until next Monday.
