Members of this committee are Susil Premajayantha, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Rajitha Senaratne, S.B. Dissanayake, Mahinda Amaraweera and John Seneviratne.
Dissanayake said a final decision with regard to the UPFA nominations has been postponed until tomorrow (09) following a meeting with the president last night, as further talks are necessary with the affiliate parties.
He admitted that there were issues pertaining to fulfilling all requests of these parties.
Once all these are finalized, the president will make an announcement tomorrow, said Dissanayake.
Mahinda to contest from Kurunegala
Meanwhile, a member of the nomination committee told Sri Lanka Mirror that it has been agreed to give nominations to Mahinda Rajapaksa from Kurunegala district.
Wimal Weerawansa and Udaya Gammanpila too, will be given nominations, but there are objections to giving nominations to Mervyn Silva, Duminda Silva and Sajin Vaas Gunawardena.
UPFA senior John Seneviratne said all excepting four or five ex-MPs of the alliance would be given nominations.
This morning, parties that want Rajapaksa named the prime ministerial candidate will have a meeting to discuss the prevailing political situation and campaigning for the general election, said MEP leader Dinesh Gunwardena.
