The Central Bank has experienced a massive distortion of its data and statistics as well as a major financial loss under former governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal, a close associate of ex-president Mahinda Rajapaksa and his family, lankatruth reports.
The CB suffered a Rs. 71,070 million loss during 2013 and 2014, but concealing that, it had paid Rs. 33,500 m dividends to the Treasury, according to the auditor general’s report.
The bank earned a Rs. 66,704 m profit in 2012, but by the end of 2013, it had suffered a Rs. 38,761 m loss, says the report.
