Parliament to be dissolved tomorrow?

Parliament to be dissolved tomorrow? Featured

President Maithripala Sirisena is to dissolve Parliament tomorrow night (June 24), internal government sources say.
Upon inquiring from several government and opposition MPs, we learnt that they too have heard as such.

The adjournment debate on the 20th Amendment will be held in Parliament today (23) and tomorrow.

The debate, which will commence from 1.00pm today, will continue from 9.30am tomorrow.

Sources say that parliament will be dissolved after the debate.

Earlier, the President had stated before media that a new parliament would be established in September 2015.

If so, a General election should be held by the end of August. The date of the General election should also take place between a time period of 52-65 days since the dissolution takes place.

Signs of a possible dissolution of parliament were apparent in local media as well as in political circles during the last few days.
