At the clash occurred at the Welikada Prison many were injured and killed and the protesters demanded to arrest those who are responsible.

The protest saw the participation of the relatives of murdered inmates, civil activists and public.

Participating in the protest the leader of Nava Sama Samaja Party Professor Wickramabahu Karunaratne stated that though a report has been submitted to the Prime Minister with regard to the murders at Welikada Prison the recommendations of the committee report has not been revealed to the public.
