Opposition parties who tabled the no-faith motions are quite put out due to this, reports add.
As President Maithripala Sirisena stated that a new parliament would be established in September, it would require the present parliament to be dissolved before the end of this month.
Accordingly, the no confidence motions currently tabled against Prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and ministers Ravi Karunanayake and John Amaratunga would be scrapped. The no-confidence motion against minister Ravi Karunanayake is to be taken up for debate on July 04.
Arjun, Dilrukshi too, off the hook
Meanwhile, proposals tabled in parliament against Central Bank governor, Arjun Mahendran and DG of the Bribery Commission - Dilrukshi Dias Wickramasinghe too, will be scrapped as well, political sources add.
