'No bus fare hike' - Gemunu Wijeratne Featured

The President of the Private Bus Owner's Association, Gemunu Wijeratne, says that neither his organization has taken any decision with regard to increasing bus fare nor they engaged in a discussion with the National Transport Commission.

He made these comments in response to an inquiry made by Sri Lanka Mirror with regard to the reports claiming that bus associations are making preparations to request the National Transport Commission to maintain the minimum bus fare at Rs 10 and increase the rest by 10%.

If the Bus Owner's Association is making such a request it would be to increase the bus fare by 3%, he added.
