On January 22, the then police spokesman Ajith Rohana said a Colombo district MP, a former IGP, two sub inspectors and a sergeant were being investigated for their involvement in money and property deals with Wele Suda.
Obtaining a court order to inquire into the bank accounts of MP Silva, the CID questioned him for more than seven hours on February 10.
At the national executive council, JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake raised the progress of the probe over Duminda Silva’s involvement in drug trafficking, and senior DIG Pujitha Jayasundara said Wele Suda had tried to mislead the police.
He also said the police spokesman had committed a serious mistake, against which action would be taken.
