There were number of demands presented at the event which included providing a pension scheme for the migrant workers, introducing a housing project and conducting an accurate census on migrant workers.

Veteran actor Wilson Gunaratne addressing the gathering stated ' due to the unorganized nature of this country, mothers and daughters have suffered as they did not receive any assistance. They have paid the price with their lives. We request the authorities to implement a proper mechanism on behalf of these people who bring foreign exchange to the country".
