The House was to approve nominees to the Constitutional Council, who are Radhika Coomaraswamy, A.T. Ariyaratne and A.W.A. Salam.

However, opposition’s Dinesh Gunawardena raised an issue over Central Bank governor Arjun Mahendran.

Prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe gave him a lengthy answer.

The PM also said written consent of the civilian members of the CC, to be formed as per the 19th amendment to the constitution, would be submitted on June 09.
