President Maithripala Sirisena says that investigation cases pertaining to the journalists who disappeared during the Rajapaksa regime will be reopened.

By now, we have given advice and room to reopen such cases and hold investigations in a fair, accurate and unbiased manner, he added.

President Sirisena expressed these sentiments on Friday (May 29th) during a function held at the auditorium of the Sri Lanka Bar Association (BASL).

During the event former President of the BASL Attorney-at-Law Upul Jayasuriya handed over the cash prize he received for winning the 2nd Commonwealth Rule of Law award, to the family of journalist Pradeep Eknaligoda who has been missing for the past 5 years.
