The Kurunegala High Court had given the green light for granting bail to Fernando as the Attorney General had not opposed to the move due to the money involved in the related incident has already been paid.
On May 25, Kurunegala Chief magistrate Ravindra Premaratne ordered to hold Fernando in remand custody until June 08.
The former minister was remanded over an alleged fraud at Sathosa amounting to Rs. 5,275,000.
Although the former minister was granted bail by the Kurunegala High Courts, he would have to remain in remand custody until June 08 if the Kurunegala Chief magistrate approval is not granted, reports add.
