It is doubtful if proper investigations were carried out into these crimes, says its secretary Joseph Stalin in a statement.
The CTU statement notes that the north is in uproar, demanding the culprits to be brought to book over the recent rape and murder of a schoolgirl in Pungudutivu.
Also, investigations should be conducted into the saboteurs who provoked police against the people staging a peaceful demonstration against the crime, it says.
Noting that public outcries against such crimes are normal and have happened in the south as well, the CTU says people of both the north and the south should enjoy the democratic right to protest.
