He was responding to a question at a media briefing today (18) at the SLFP headquarters, also attended by opposition leader Nimal Siripala de Silva.
Journalists also asked as to why accusations were being levelled only against the prime minister over the FCID, and as to whether the president was unaware of its activities.
De Silva said that the FCID was a political institution, whose head is the PM.
The SLFP has been given a promise by the president with regard to the FCID.
De Silva said the PM’s seeking opinion of the commonwealth with regard to the court ruling on the former defence secretary was an insult to the local judiciary.
Further, it is ridiculous to seek opinion as president Sirisena is the head of the commonwealth.
