The probe is over the purchase, on 28th December last year, of dry ration packs, each worth Rs. 2,500, using Rs. 6,146,110 of money belonging to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, purportedly to be distributed to 2,300 flood-affected families of Giriulla in Pannala, Kurunegala.
The dry rations had been supplied to one R.J.A. Kumara by Lanka Sathosa Pannala branch, but the respective divisional secretaries and the director of disaster management say they had not been given to the intended families, the FCID yesterday (15) informed the Colombo magistrate’s court.
The CPC had allocated the money on a request by its former managing director Susantha de Silva from former chairman S. Amarasekara.
Additional magistrate Nirosha Fernando ordered that the court be informed of the progress of the investigation on June 27.
