Although the police has intervened to facilitate a discussion between the protestors and the provincial secretary, the protesters have refused, calling for an audience with the chief minister himself.

A group of unemployed graduates are currently engaged in a protest demonstration in front of the Western Province Chief Minister's office.

The protesters accuse that the Western Province Chief Minister took them for President Mahinda Rajapaksa's rallies during the previous election promising them employment.
