Won't celebrate war victory - Rajitha Featured

Cabinet spokesman - Rajitha Senaratne says that this year's commemoration held to mark the military defeat of the LTTE would be held on a different note, and not causing harm to sentiments of all masses in the country.

It is being designated as the “Armed Forces Day" and the state function would be held on May 19 to remember all those who died during the war in Sri Lanka.

Speaking during a live debate at the 'V FM' radio channel, minister Rajitha said :

"We are sternly against separatism." Separatism must be defeated completely. A war waged against a racial mass of the country itself cannot be approved. Therefore, through this state function, the government would commemorate all the soldiers who helped to defeat the separatist LTTE organisation as well as all those who were affected by the war."
