Harm caused to the mirror wall is due to ignorance about its archaeological importance among certain members of the public, he said.

He said awareness will be raised among visitors to the Sigiriya rock through public address system in all three languages about the need to protect this archaeological heritage.

A previous proposal to install a glass cover has been rejected due to possible damage to the mirror wall.
