Speaking to media, Dr. Jayasumana says that the deadly disease has lately spread to the districts of Vavuniya, Mullaitivu and Trincomalee districts.

At the present, several programmes have been initiated in the districts of Auuradhapura, Pollonnaruwa and Kurunegala to curb the kidney disease and the ministry of Agriculture has also taken measures to ban the selling and distribution of a pesticide in 04 districts, which is said to be responsible for the disease.

Although the government has appointed several committees to curb the spreading of the disease, there is no concrete remedy so far, Dr. Jayasumana added.
