In a statement, the president’s office said the land would now be utilized for the resettlement of the people displaced by terrorism.
President Sirisena yesterday (07) signed the gazette notification relating to this purpose.
For the past 10 years, 825 families have been living in extreme conditions in Sampurs.
The Sampur Navy camp, located on a 237 acre land will be relocated in a 180 acre land near the Trincomalee harbour.
The new Navy training camp will cost Rs. 200 million for construction, BBC Sandeshaya quotes the statement as saying.
