Measures have been taken to resend Vidushika to the Maha Deva Children's Home for her well-being following the approval given by Kilinochchi Magistrate M. I Wahabdeen yesterday (06).

Vidushika's mother, Tamil activist Balendra Jeyakumari was arrested for allegedly harbouring terror suspects in her home and was later released on bail.

Jeyakumari, an advocate for families of the disappeared, and her 13 year old daughter Vidushika were arrested by the police on 13 March, 2014. They were placed under arrest on suspicion of aiding and abetting K.P. Selvanayagam alias Gopi, a former LTTE cadre who shot a police officer.

Vidushika was later released by authorities while rights groups and certain organizations had called for the release of Ms Balendra Jeyakumari and for her to be reunited with her daughter. Jeyakumari was released on bail on 10 March and was reunited with her daughter.

However, all furniture and other items at their house located in Darmapuram has been robbed and Vidushika's schooling has also been halted.

However, since her daughter does not get sufficient protection in her care Jeyakumari has requested to resend Vidushika to the children's home. Accepting the request the magistrate allowed Vidushika to return to the children's home and continue schooling.
