The JVP complaint alleges more than Rs. 130 million had been fraudulently credited to a personal account in Gotabhaya’s name through three cheques when implementing projects under the Deyata Kirula exhibition in Ampara in 2013.
Speaking to Sri Lanka Mirror, Gotabhaya said the account in question belongs to the UDA, not to him.
He said the money was credited for a development project by the UDA implemented on a proposal by Ampara MP Sarath Weerasekara.
He also said his lawyers have also been instructed to send letters of demand to the media organizations that had carried the false allegation by the JVP which aims to tarnish his image.
