The statement is with regard to the investigation on the Army Corporal who had carried a firearm to a recent SLFP meeting in Hambantota which was attended by President Maithripala Sirisena.

Meanwhile, it is rumoured that the Corporal was arrested as a result of a cold war between the Presidential Security Division (PSD) and the police STF.

The suspect is said to be a part of the PSD contingent on duty during the Papal visit which took place shortly after the new government swept into power.
