According to reports, five kiosks with facilities for online payment are expected to be set up within the Colombo Municipal Council limits.

This move is expected to enable even taxpayers who do not possess internet facilities to make their tax remittances to the CMC online.

The ICT Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) has taken steps to introduce the Online Tax Payment System to the Colombo Municipal Council in 2014.

That was the first time an online tax payment system was introduced by any local government authority in Sri Lanka. Since the introduction of the system in 2014, the total sum of remittances received online up to now by the CMC as tax payment has exceeded Rs. 10 million.
