Foreign affairs minister Mangala Samaraweera gives an assurance again that the three journalists who had fled the country during the Rajapaksa regime and sought political asylum in Nepal would be brought home within days.

He was speaking to Sri Lanka Mirror.

On April 27, he told parliament that he had reports of two journalists in exile in Nepal – Jayampathy Bulathsinhala and Kumuduni Wijewardena.

The minister said he gave instructions to officials to look into the expiry of their passport and bring them back within a week.

He said he had no reports about journalist Shantha Wijesuriya.

The minister was responding to a charge by DNA’s Anura Kumara Dissanayake that the government had not paid attention to the plight of these journalists in the wake of the earthquake that devastated Nepal.
