Questions over right to information

Questions over right to information

Parliamentarians of the opposition yesterday raised the issue of the lack of knowledge on the proposed Right to Information Bill.

Opposition members said a majority of the MPs did not know the contents in the RTI Bill.

They opposed the government's move to present the bill as an urgent bill to the House.

UPFA MP G.L. Peiris told the House that most of the MPs did not have information about the right to information.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe then said the RTI Bill will not be presented as an urgent bill.
