A total of 2,500 people from the Northern and Eastern Provinces had appeared before the commission. “However, the blame figures varied from district to district. In the Eastern Province, most of the complaints were against the Security Forces. The Karuna group (a breakaway group of the LTTE), was also blamed to an extent in the East,” Paranagama said.
The Commission has submitted its report to President Maithripala Sirisena. The government has asked the panel to continue its work as it is also investigating allegations of war crimes.
