The contingent includes Olympians Chandrika Subhashini Rasnayake and Manjula Kumara Wijesekera, N C D Priyadarshani, Indunil Herath, Lakshan Dayarathne, W K L Nimali, Anjana Gunaratne and Gayanthika Abeyratne who have excelled during previous versions of Asian Grand Prix Championships. Udaya Viraj Weerasinghe and Amila Jayasiri have also made it to the contingent.
Sri Lanka will also count on the performance of the women’s 4x400m and men’s 4x100m relay teams which have not yet been announced.
The contingent has been picked by the AASL based on their performances during 2014.
The athletes have also been informed that they have to perform in their best capacity in their respective events during the selections which will be held on May 9 and 10 to make sure that they will fly to Thailand.
The grand prix will start at the Thammasat University Stadium in Bangkok on June 22. The second leg will be held at Pethumthani on June 25, followed by the third and final leg at Chathnaburi on June 29.
