As per constitutional provisions, the national flag should have orange and green stripes on its left side to represent the Tamil and Muslim communities and to show national unity.
However, the ‘Sinhale Kodiya’ displayed during recent protests does not have these two stripes.
This flag was raised by Swarna Hansa Foundation on March 02 at Magul Maduwa in Sri Dalada Maligawa.
No citizen has the right to distort the national flag or the national anthem, and it is a punishable offence.
