Financial frauds at FFSL amounts to 20 million Featured

A government audit report has indicated that financial frauds which occurred at Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) amounts to Rs 22,902,965.

These frauds have taken place for six years from year 2006 to 2011.

Auditor General's Department has informed the Ministry of Sports and FFSL in written to take immediate measures with regard to these matters.

The said money has been received from number of sources for number of purposes which includes money received from Italy to develop a sports ground in Kalutara which amounts to Rs 62, 87,670, Rs 64,15,290 received when AFC Asian Cup organized by Asian Football Confederation (AFC) was held in Sri Lanka in 2008,a private organization's donation of Rs 50,‍00,000 as Tsunami assistance and amount of Rs 52,00,000 received for hosting 2008 SAFF Championship.

The allegations have been lodged directly against two former high ranking officials at FFSL and these activities have taken place without informing or obtaining the approval of FFSL Executive Committee.
