Several competitors have decided not to participate in the competition as a mean of protesting against not offering the cup to its original winner.

Accordingly 9 strong competitors including the 3 winners have decided to abstain from participating and only 5 horses are to participate in the race tomorrow.

The particular decision is based on the incidents of disrupting the drug test of the horses and cancelling the race despite the clear recognition of the winner.

Deepthika Jayakody entered 3 horses in the race and the horse named 'Charlton' won the race.

It has been the common opinion that the offering of The Governor's Cup to Deepthika's horse was prevented as the SLTC Chairman Gamini Jayarathne's son’s horse lost the race.
