UNP Spokesperson, Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam has told the media that the UNP will contest separately at the next election and decide afterwards whether to form a national government.

He has said the party after the election will decide whether a national government is suitable for the country at that time.

However, the UNP earlier said a national government will be formed after the next general election.
