Defence sources say the AF has to be paid millions of rupees for 23 helicopter rides by Namal Rajapaksa and many others by several ex-ministers including Weerawansa, Basil Rajapaksa, Susil Premajayantha and Shiranthi Rajapaksa.

Speaking to BBC Sandeshaya Weerawansa admitted having used AF helicopters, and said the UPFA leaders, including its chairman and the general secretary, have the responsibility to pay the bills.

He said he cannot be held responsible personally as the bills are named to the UPFA.

Weerawansa added that it was unethical for disregarding to pay the bill due to a dispute with the candidate.
