Navin to next probe demands for sexual favours

Navin to next probe demands for sexual favours Featured

Sports minister Navin Dissanayake says he has been able to remove directress general of sports Ranjani Jayakody from the position after a two-month long dispute.

His next objective is to conclude the investigation into allegations of seeking sexual favours from members of the women’s cricket team.

A committee headed by retired judge Nimal Dissanayake, appointed by Navin’s predecessor Mahindananda Aluthgamage, has been unable to complete investigations.

A Sri Lanka Cricket appointed a committee headed by lawyer Manoli Jinadasa handed over its report late last year.

This committee has recorded statements from three officials, a selection committee member and the officer in charge of the women cricketers.
