In the present scenario, the revisions to be proposed by the opposition are likely to be included in the constitutional amendment, a senior minister told Sri Lanka Mirror.
He also said there is a clear division in the SLFP, with the opposition leader failing to command his members.
Should raise their hands for 19th amendment too
Meanwhile, the JVP says the MPs who had raised their hands for the casino act and the 18th amendment, should support the 19th amendment too.
Leader of the party Anura Kumara Dissanayake has told BBC Sandeshsya that certain members of the SLFP have become saboteurs and destructors in parliament.
He charged the SLFP was trying to postpone the amendment, hiding behind its demand for electoral reforms.
Dissanayake noted that Dinesh Gunawardena’s select committee of electoral reforms had done nothing in 11 years.
Also, the elections commissioner has noted that elections do not take place within one year of electoral reforms.
