The minister has made the comment to lankaenews website which has asked him about an article in Sri Lanka Mirror website which announced Gotabhaya’s entry to politics.

LeN has asked Samaraweera as to whether he has any connection to the campaign on behalf of Gotabhaya by a website run by a long-term secretary of his.

Damaging to my reputation too

The minister said this campaign to whitewash the ex-defence secretary by a person close to him gives him much pain of mind and is also damaging to his reputation.

He said he wants to bring Gotabhaya before the law for having committed murders and abductions of journalists, carried outt arson attacks on media institutions and other forms of intimidation.

He added that he has nothing to do with such campaigns that support claims by opponents who accuse the UNP of helping the Rajapaksas to gain power again.
