The SLFP says that parliament cannot be dissolved as stated by the UNP.

SLFP Youth Front Leader, Deputy Minister Shantha Bandara told a news conference that parliament cannot be dissolved at end of April as stated by the UNP.

He explained that electoral reforms should also be put in place along with the slashing of executive powers vested with the Presidency. He added that parliament should not be dissolved until the electoral reforms were also implemented.

According to Bandara, despite claims by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe that parliament will be dissolved end of April, the power to dissolve parliament is vested with President Maithripala Sirisena.
